Whilst Jon's DIY Tuning Lesson is perfect for learning the basics of performance hand tuning for pro skiers, instructors, racers & recreational skiers alike, it would only be of limited benefit for someone looking for employment within a ski/snowboard workshop, either abroad or in the UK.
Employment opportunities can be hard to find for those with little or no experience so the Ski/Board Technician Foundation Course is specifically designed to give the attendee a working knowledge of the basic day to day workshop elements making it the ideal starting place for those preparing for employment as a Ski/Snowboard Technician.

- Workshop Health & Safety
- Ski/board construction & edge geometry
- Base grinding (using RoffB machine)
- Hand edge tuning
- Machine edge tuning (using RoffB machine)
- Base repairs
- Base waxing & polishing
- Bindings installation
- Binding adjustment
- Binding maintenance & torque testing (using Wintersteiger torque machine)
Unlike courses offered elsewhere were you will be part of a large group, this course offers one-to-one tuition thus ensuring a full day of 'hands on' time over a wider range of work processes. A second person may attend at your invitation only & if they do then each person will have their own bench/tools to use.
A certificate will be issued upon successful completion & a record of attendance will be held to enable a reference to be given if requested by a future potential employer.
Work skis/bindings will be provided by Jon but you are welcome to bring your own skis or board to be serviced during the course at no additional cost.
The courses, which are held at Jon's fully equipped Nottingham workshop, are from 9.30am to 5pm with a break for lunch & are available midweek throughout the year.
Tea & coffee will be provided throughout the day but please bring a pack lunch with you. There are toilet facilities on site & car parking directly outside.
The cost is £360 for one person or £690 for two people. Simply call or email Jon to agree a date - note that dates tend to be booked up a couple of months in advance so please book as early as possible. Payment is made on the day by either debit/credit card (not AmEx), bank transfer or in cash.
The Ski Technicians Foundation Course has also proved to be a very popular present for which Jon can issue a personalised gift voucher.
